New Clinical Data Strategy Manager Named
Claire Howell, MMCi, has been named manager of Clinical Data Strategy for the Duke Cancer Institute. She began her new role on September 9.
Howell will serve as DCI's leader over EHR (electronic health record) analytics efforts and help DCI leverage Maestro Care data to support both research and clinical operations. Claire will report to the director of DCI Clinical and Research Informatics as well as the senior director of Analytics Customer Solutions at Duke Health Technology Solutions’ Analytics Center of Excellence. Howell and her team will be responsible for creating a homogenized strategy around EHR data consumption in oncology.
Howell comes to the DCI from Performance Services, where she served as a management engineer for three years. She joins the team with extensive experience leveraging EHR data to demonstrate improved quality and outcomes.
In her prior role, Howell supported analytics and process improvement for the DUHS Orthopedics team. She was recognized as an outstanding contributor for analytical support on the HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence recently received by Duke Health. The award, the nation’s highest honor in healthcare IT, recognizes outstanding achievement of organizations that have utilized health information and technology to substantially improve patient outcomes and value.
Howell received a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Policy from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA, in May 2015. She received a Master of Management in Clinical Informatics from Duke University School of Medicine in August 2019.
