Schneider Elected ONS President

Susan Schneider, PhD, RN, AOCN, ACNS-BC, FAAN, associate professor, Duke University School of Nursing, was recently elected as the presidentof the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) by the ONS board of directors.
Schneider received her Bachelor of Nursing degree in 1981 from the University of Akron. She received her master’s degree in 1985 from Texas Woman’s University and her doctorate degree in 1998 from Case Western University.
Schneider, an ONS member for more than 30 years, will assume the role of president at the end of April. Schneider joined Duke in 2000 and currently serves as faculty lead for the graduate oncology specialty at the School of Nursing. Her research interests include the management of symptom distress in cancer patients and the use of distraction interventions to enhance coping. Her current research includes testing a tailored protocol to promote chemotherapy adherence. Schneider has been a member of the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center for more than 15 years.
