NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00)

The purpose of the NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00) is to encourage and retain outstanding graduate students recognized by their institutions for their high potential and strong interest in pursuing careers as independent cancer researchers. The award will facilitate the transition of talented graduate students into successful cancer research postdoctoral appointments, and provide opportunities for career development activities relevant to their long-term career goals of becoming independent cancer researchers.

The Duke Cancer Institute is invited to submit one nominee, therefore we will be conducting an internal review of applications. The following items are required and will be reviewed by the DCI’s Scientific Review Committee.

1. Biosketches of applicant and sponsor/sponsor team

2. Two (2) page summary of how the project will address the two specific aims as described below from the announcement, including project timeline and name(s) of sponsor/sponsor team

Specific Aims

All applicants must use these two Specific Aims:

Specific Aim 1: The Dissertation Research Project. 

Provide a detailed description of the research to be completed in the F99 phase.

Specific Aim 2: The Postdoctoral Research Direction. 

Identify the research direction to be pursued for the K00 phase.

3. Budget and budget justification

 

Applications for internal review are due to Dena Buchanan dena.buchanan@duke.edu no later than Friday, October 2, 2020 by 5:00pm (please send your application in one PDF). Selected nominees will be notified by Monday, October 19. The sponsor application deadline is November 18, 2020.
