Susan D. Bruce, MSN, RN, OCN, AOCNS, clinical nurse specialist, Duke Cancer Center Raleigh, was recently elected to the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) board of directors and will serve as a director-at-large.

"I look forward to being a director-at-large on the Oncology Nursing Society board of directors," said Bruce, who for six years served on the board of directors for the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC). "ONS has been very influential in the future of oncology nursing over the years. ONS is well-respected by other organizations in nursing. I want to be able to speak on behalf of our patients, their families and our oncology nursing colleagues on the matters that are most important to them."

Bruce, who first joined Duke 28 years ago, has worked at Duke Raleigh Hospital for the past 12 years. In October, she received the Evelyn Morgan Award for Excellence in Oncology Nursing Practice from the DUHS Friends of Nursing program. Bruce will be inducted to the board next month at the 2017-2018 ONS 43rd Annual Congress, which takes place May 17 through May 20 in Washington, D.C.
