DCI Scientific Retreat

The 6th Annual Scientific Retreat will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Bay 7 in the American Tobacco Historic District in Durham.

The O. Michael Colvin Memorial Lecture, in honor of Dr. Michael Colvin, Director Emeritus of the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center and Professor Emeritus of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine, will be delivered by Charles M. Perou, PhD, The May Goldman Shaw Professor of Molecular Oncology, Department of Genetics, and Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, Computational Medicine Program Co-Director from the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.  His talk is entitled “Quantitative Medicine for Breast Cancer Patients.”

Registration: Tuesday, October 15, 2019 (5 p.m.)

Abstract Submission 

Trainees, Students and Fellows are invited to submit an abstract for podium presentation alongside registering for the retreat. Two abstracts in each of the fields of basic, translational, clinical and population science cancer research will be selected for presentation and will receive a $1,000 award from the DCI, with the most innovative basic science research receiving a $5,000 award as the 2019 Robert and Barbara Bell Basic Science Cancer Research Award recipient. Abstract submission is a part of the registration process.

Poster Session

Submitted abstracts not selected for podium presentation will be invited to participate in the evening’s poster session. Posters will be due Monday, October 10, 2019.
