Mindfulness Sessions For Cancer Patients & Caregivers
Individuals with cancer and their caregivers are invited to join Tracy Berger, medical family therapist, for online mindfulness sessions.
These free sessions, hosted by the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program, will be held monthly on the second and fourth Wednesday from 12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Mindfulness can be a powerful tool to manage the stress experienced while living with cancer and going through life after cancer.
The mindfulness sessions allow participants to practice present moment awareness by focusing on one of seven essential attitudes for mindfulness practice:
Non-Judging
Patience
Beginner’s Mind
Trust
Non-Striving
Acceptance
Letting Go
Through the focus on the breath and the present moment, patients and their caregivers will learn to discover, within themselves, the ability to respond, rather than react, to life’s stressors.
