Duke, NC State To Host Second Annual C3O Symposium

Michael B. Kastan, MD, PhD, executive director of the DCI, greets guests attending the 2016 C3O symposium last March at the SAS Executive Briefing Center Auditorium in Cary, NC.REGISTRATION IS CLOSED
The Consortium for Canine Comparative Oncology (C3O), a collaboration between Duke Cancer Institute and North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, will host its second annual symposium on Friday, Feb. 17, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the new JB Duke Hotel in Durham, North Carolina.
Duke and NC State joined forces last year to explore new cancer therapies offering better efficacy and less toxicity for both humans and canines. Researchers at both institutions are studying naturally occurring cancers in humans and canines. This collaboration allows investigators to leverage research and resources to benefit both species, ensuring better treatments and outcomes.
The 2017 symposium will consist of presentations by 2016 C3O Pilot Project Awardees and a panel discussion on the topic of immunotherapy and comparative oncology. The keynote address will be delivered by Cheryl London, DVM, PhD, Diplomate ACVIM (Oncology) from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Members of Duke University and NC State University communities, as well as industry representatives are invited to attend.
Participants are invited to submit abstracts in cancer relevant research (not required to be species specific) for consideration to present during the poster session. A $500 award will be given for the top abstracts. Abstracts are due Monday, Jan. 9, and will be reviewed by the C3O Steering Committee.
Registration for the 2017 Canine Comparative Oncology Symposium is open through Friday, Jan. 27. The JB Duke Hotel is located at 230 Science Drive, Durham, NC. To learn more about C3O, visit Consortium for Canine Comparative Oncology. To register and submit an abstract, go to C30.
