Lung Cancer Initiative To Host Evening Of Hope Gala

Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina will host its 11th annual Evening of Hope Gala, “Solving the Mystery of Lung Cancer,” on Saturday, April 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh. The black-tie optional celebration and fundraiser will include dinner and drinks, a silent and live auction, and live music from the That NATION Band.

Proceeds from the Evening of Hope Gala will benefit Lung Cancer Initiative’s local research, awareness, education and access programs across the state. Last year’s gala raised more than $95,000. Since 2008, Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina has funded more than $1.4 million towards lung cancer research.

“Lung Cancer Initiative is committed to funding important lung cancer research and education right here in North Carolina,” says Paige Humble, executive director of Lung Cancer Initiative. “We look forward to hosting the community for a lively evening of exciting auctions, great music and dancing, all with the goal of furthering awareness and support for the cause.”

Lung cancer claims more than 154,050 lives in the United States every year, more than any other cancer, including breast, colon and prostate cancers combined. In North Carolina specifically, nearly 8,490 people are diagnosed with lung cancer annually, and American Cancer Society estimates that more than 5,770 are expected to lose their battle with the disease this year. The efforts of Lung Cancer Initiative aim to change these dismal statistics and give hope to those fighting lung cancer.
