MoDukes Belly Up To The Bench Press For MOVEmber

The MoDukes, Duke doctors supporting the Movember Foundation's quest to fund prostate cancer research, will host their annual MoDukes Men's Health Day Relay on Sunday, Nov. 22, at Southpoint Crossfit in Durham.
"Together, we will perform a host of manly exercises in the name of men's health," said MoDuke team captain Andrew J. Armstrong, MD. "Anyone can participate, and there's no experience necessary."
According to the American Cancer Society there will be about approximately 220,800 new cases of prostate cancer this year and about 27,540 deaths as a result of prostate cancer. Estimates indicate that one man in seven will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime.
Founded in 2003, the Movember Foundation is an international campaign that has raised $559 million to support prostate cancer research and awareness. The foundation rallies men to grow facial hair during November, igniting important discussions about men's health and prostate cancer. More than 200 strong, the MoDukes raised almost $20,000 last year and hope to raise $40,000 this year.
Other Men's Health Day Relay sponsors include, Bull City Crossfit, Crossfit Durham and Liv's. To register for the manly relay event, contact Joseph Fantony, MD, or visit the event page on Facebook. Southpoint Crossfit is located at 6104 Fayetteville Road, Durham. For more information on MoDukes DCI or to pledge support, visit Movember DCI.
