Second Annual Cornhole Tourney Slated For October

Duke Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapy will host its second annual benefit Cornhole Games on Thursday, Oct. 3 — this year in honor of longtime Duke Cancer Institute supporter Charles Fritz, of Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers. After partnering with DCI to support Dunk A Doc, Survivorship Day and many other events, in August Fritz was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
In support of their colleague and friend, staff at Freddy's in Durham will host lunch, including grilled hotdogs and frozen custard for a donation of $3 each.
The Cornhole tournament will be held Thursday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Green at 20 Duke Medicine Circle, Durham, just in front of Duke Cancer Center. Games are $10 per person or $20 per team. Medals will be given to winning teams. Proceeds benefit Team Duke Cancer Center Durham and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night walk on Nov. 2. For more information, contact Gabriel Alcantara. To register for the tournament, please visit 2019 Cornhole Benefit.
