Chancellor Victor J. Dzau, MD, president and CEO, Duke University Health System, accepts a farewell gift from DCI senior leadership, Carolyn Carpenter, MHA, FACHE, administrator & assoc. dean, and Michael B. Kastan, MD, PhD, executive director. The DCI hosted a farewell breakfast June 26 at the Duke Cancer Center. Dzau, who took the helm more than a decade ago, left June 30 to head up the Institute of Medicine, located in Washington, D.C.
"Dr. Dzau was instrumental in the formation of the Duke Cancer Institute," said Kastan. "In fact, the DCI would not exist today if it were not for his undying support and collaboration. Dr. Dzau will be greatly missed, but we wish him much success in his new role as president of the Institute of Medicine."
