The 3rd Annual NC Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Symposium, with a focus on survivorship, will be held on Friday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. via a live webinar. The event is co-sponsored by Duke Cancer Institute and UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC in collaboration with Wake Forest Baptist Health Comprehensive Cancer Center and the UNC Linberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

There will be a mix of didactic lectures and panel discussions covering cancer survivorship in general, physical activity, research & policy, sexual health and fertility, and work ability in young adult cancer survivors.

Kevin Oeffinger, MD, a family physician who directs the Duke Supportive Care and Survivorship Center at DCI and the Duke Center for Onco-Primary Care, is one of two keynote speakers at the event. Other DCI speakers include Rebecca Shelby, PhD (Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences) and Kelly Acharya, MD (Duke Fertility Center).

The symposium will bring together multidisciplinary providers and researchers from across the state who are interested in improving care for the adolescent and young adult patient population. Physicians, nurses, social workers, researchers, psychologists, child life specialists, advance practice providers, hospital administrators, and program directors are the intended audience. Continuing Medical Education credits will be available.
