Train for the V-Ride This Weekend (5.16.20)
May 16, the original date for the Victory Ride to Cure Cancer, is upon us. If you had planned to participate in the ride before the V-Ride was postponed (or even if you hadn't), you're invited to join Team DCI co-captains Michael Kastan, MD, PhD, and Ryan Switzer for a free-of-charge virtual training Victory Ride on that date instead.
What's a "virtual" ride? Unlike many events these days, it's not over Zoom. It's a real ride — whether on your road bicycle or your Peloton or other stationary bike — just not in a crowd. Apart, but together in spirit!
FIRST: Join the “Victory Ride to Cure Cancer” club on the Strava app, then join the May 16 event within that club. [If you don’t already have the app, you will need to download it (it’s free) and create a free account.]
NEXT: On May 16, at 9 a.m., select a 10, 30, 60 or 100-mile V-Ride route through the Strava app OR choose a route/trail of your own. Show your Team DCI spirit! Put on a DCI or Duke jersey, if you have one, and get rollin'.
THEN: Take photos and/or videos of your ride, post them on social media and tag @DukeCancer @TheVictoryRide #TheVictoryRide or simply email them to us. We’d love to see your favorite riding location or training partner. Children and pets are welcome!
