Hundreds of thousands of dollars were raised at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, held Oct. 19 in Raleigh. It was a high-energy event.

When Barbara Pullen-Smith, PhD, was diagnosed with breast cancer, she was stunned and in disbelief. Little did she know then that she would soon meet a friend for life.
