Eight DCI Nurses Honored with Duke FON Awards

By: Julie Poucher Harbin, Senior Writer, DCI

This Spring, Duke Friends of Nursing returned to an in-person gala celebration of the Duke Friends of Nursing Award Winners — themed "Illuminating Excellence: Leading with Compassion, Making an Impact." The event was held on May 14, 2022 at the Durham Convention Center.
The Friends of Nursing (FON) program at Duke was developed in 1988 to recognize professional excellence in nursing practice, nursing education, and nursing research, and to promote the image of nursing as a positive career choice. This year, there were 37 FON award winners.
We would like to give special recognition to the eight award winners who work across Duke Cancer Institute.
Click on their names to learn more about each individual, including bios, video statements about why they chose nursing and what they enjoy about their careers, and excerpts from their nomination letters.
