The Duke Cancer Institute Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is committed to creating and promoting an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment by continually fostering an environment and culture that reflects and supports the diverse communities of patients DCI serves and the unique qualities that each colleague brings to the organization.

Plan to Enhance Diversity

The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion’s is committed to creating an equitable, diverse and inclusive environment through the implementation of EDI programs and strategies for DCI. We will achieve through the implementation of the following specific aims to enhance diversity:

  1. Build a robust Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) infrastructure to foster a more diverse, inclusive and equitable organizational culture and evaluate the impact of the DCI OEDI.
  2. Execute recruitment and retention strategies and innovative EDI programs to support women and historically underrepresented minorities (URMs) in the oncology workforce.
  3. Foster workforce diversity by creating innovative career enhancing programs in research and promoting leadership development for women and URMs.

OEDI Spotlight: Project CHECKERS

The Duke University School of Medicine Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences launched a DCI-funded pilot project to bring head and neck cancer resources and education to the broader Durham community.
