Ovester Grays, 67, of Durham, North Carolina, was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2019. As the longtime girls’ basketball coach at Hillside High School, Ovester focuses on imparting life’s lessons rather than Xs and Os. Still cancer-free, he takes a break from practice here with his students.
